Downloading Splunk Dashboard Examples

To install your download
To install apps and add-ons from within Splunk Enterprise
  1. Log into Splunk Enterprise.
  2. On the Apps menu, click Manage Apps.
  3. Click Install app from file.
  4. In the Upload app window, click Choose File.
  5. Locate the .tar.gz file you just downloaded, and then click Open or Choose.
  6. Click Upload.
  7. Click Restart Splunk, and then confirm that you want to restart.
To install apps and add-ons directly into Splunk Enterprise
  1. Put the downloaded file in the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps directory.
  2. Untar and ungzip your app or add-on, using a tool like tar -xvf (on *nix) or WinZip (on Windows).
  3. Restart Splunk.
After you install a Splunk app, you will find it on Splunk Home. If you have questions or need more information, see Manage app and add-on objects.

The Splunk Dashboard app v8.2.6 will reach end of support on Dec 19, 2024. No new versions of the app will be released. Simple XML examples are available in SimpleXML reference guide documentation and the Dashboards & Visualizations forum on Splunk Community. The Splunk Dashboard app delivers examples that give you a hands-on way to learn the basic concepts and tools needed to rapidly create rich dashboards using Simple XML. This new app incorporates learn-by-doing Simple XML examples, including extensions to Simple XML for further customization of layout, interactivity, and visualizations.

With the app you will learn basic Simple XML concepts and how to incorporate the built-in components. All the included examples deliver a recipe for implementing dashboard elements, beginning with the most basic and progressing to more advanced elements. Each example in the app includes an actual runtime visualization followed by a description and supporting source code.
